OVA Hall of Fame: Furlani Legends (Barry Mutrie)

Barry was an active volleyball player at the High School, National Intercollegiate, Club and Provincial team levels starting in 1959. As a Coach, he provided leadership at the High School, Club, Camp, Regional Team and Provincial Team levels. Barry played integral roles in helping to establish volleyball's identity in Canada in the 70s, developing programs throughout the 80s, increasing exposure through marketing initiatives in the 90s, and working to implement new funding and athlete development models at the turn of the century. Barry retired as a teacher in 2006 but continued to coach volleyball and track & field at Chesley District High School, and took on executive leadership positions with CWOSSA.
