Kerry MacLean’s influence on volleyball in Ottawa is impossible to miss—from founding the Ottawa Maverick Volleyball Club to mentoring generations of athletes, coaches, and leaders. What started in 1985 with a single boys’ and girls’ team has grown into a nationally recognized program known for its athlete development, community values, and competitive excellence. Under Kerry’s leadership, the Mavs have supported thousands of youth and helped launch countless post-secondary and professional careers, while the Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund has removed financial barriers for players across the region.
Whether coaching high school champions, building national title-winning teams, or laying court tiles before tournaments, Kerry has always led from the front. His contributions span coaching, administration, education, and advocacy—and his commitment has left a lasting mark on volleyball in Ontario.
