Ed Drakich’s influence on volleyball spans every level of the sport. A three-time CIAU First Team All-Canadian, Olympian, Canadian beach volleyball champion, and longtime member of the FIVB’s international leadership structure, Drakich helped elevate volleyball in Ontario, Canada, and around the world.
Ed developed into one of Ontario’s most accomplished athletes and one of the sport’s most influential builders. As the OVA’s first Beach Volleyball Director and later Technical Director, he helped modernize coaching education, introduced innovative registration systems, and played a key role in developing coaching standards that continue to shape Canadian volleyball today. Internationally, his leadership with Volleyball Canada, NORCECA, and the FIVB has impacted the sport on the world stage for decades.
The Ontario Volleyball Association proudly welcomes Ed Drakich into the OVA Hall of Fame as a Furlani Legend as part of the Class of 2026.
